IRS announces Child Tax Credit changes

Important changes to the Child Tax Credit will help many families get advance payments of the credit starting this summer, according to a news release from the IRS.  “The IRS will pay half the total credit amount in advance monthly payments beginning July 15,” read the release.

Ford Park announces Koe Wetzel concert Oct. 29

Symphony to perform inside Julie Rogers Theatre on July 4

Due to weather concerns, the Symphony of Southeast Texas will move their outdoor performance from the Downtown Event Centre to inside the Julie Rogers Theatre on Sunday, July 4. Doors open for the free concert at 7 p.m. The fireworks will be in full view as patrons leave the concert.

A Port Arthur man has pleaded guilty to a federal firearms violation in the Eastern District of Texas, announced acting U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei Monday. Jarrel Jakeem Joseph, 25, pleaded guilty to receipt of a firearm while under indictment before U.S. District Judge Michael J. Truncale.

BPD announces Fourth of July plans

Sunday, July 4, Independence Day, Beaumont will host the 35th Annual Fourth of July Celebration, closing several roads.  As such, a few downtown thoroughfares will be closed Sunday morning before the festivities begin, according to a news release from the Beaumont Police Department (BPD).
