Lamar University under campus threat

Lamar University students, staff and faulty were alerted of an on-going threat on campus, June 11.According to the emergency alert, at approximately 12:15 p.m., an individual was observed dressed in construction clothing, entering the library construction zone.

LU athletics reign supreme in the Southland Conference

It’s been all systems go since Jeff O’Malley took over the Lamar University athletics department in June 2022. The programs as well as the infrastructure turned a complete 180 and it's quickly paid off.

BPD seeking public's help in fatal accident

The Beaumont Police Department (BPD) is seeking the public's help in a fatal hit-and-run crash on May 24. At 5:52 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Avenue C in response to an accident involving a bicyclist.

Man killed in ATV crash

A man died after he was involved in an early morning ATV crash on May 29.The Beaumont Police Department reported at 3:45 a.m. at the intersection of Cardinal Drive southbound service road at Erie Street, officers received a call of a crash involving a truck and an ATV.

Eight injured in single-vehicle crash

On May 31, the Beaumont Police Department (BPD) reported that eight people were extract after an SUV struck a tree at 4460 Concord Road. The accident happened about 2:16 a.m.When officers arrived, they found a silver Yukon folded around a tree.

LIT announces 2025-26 Golden Eagle Ambassadors

The Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT) announced the 2025-2026 LIT Golden Eagle Ambassadors. The students were selected to serve as leaders, representing LIT by welcoming and guiding new and prospective students while building a strong sense of community on campus.

Holt opens district office in Hardin County

District 18 State Rep. Janis Holt (R-Silsbee) announced the opening of a second district office located in the Hardin County Courthouse, 300 West Monroe, Suite 133A, in Kountze. The space was donated by Hardin County.
