Card campaign brings cheer This year, the Shorkey Center has started a new Holiday Cheer Campaign to spread seasons greetings to area residents. For a $10 donation, the Shorkey kids will personalize 10 holiday cards that will be delivered to area nursing home residents.

Motorist injured in two-car crash

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigated a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 96, south of the Jasper County line, on Nov. 29. Sgt. Shana Clark, DPS spokesperson, stated the preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 10:30 p.m.

Upcoming dedication for William G. “Bill” Hall historical marker

At 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, a dedication ceremony for the William G. “Bill” Hall historical marker will be conducted at 888 Pearl St. in Beaumont, announced the Jefferson County Historical Commission. The marker is at the site of the old Gulf Coast Recording Studio.

Silsbee woman arrested after crash The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reported a Silsbee woman was arrested in a crash that injured a pedestrian on Dec. 2. Sgt. Shana Clark, DPS spokesperson, reported the auto-pedestrian crash on FM 92, near the 426-mile marker in Hardin County.

Man arrested for indecency with child

A 28-year-old Ivanhoe man was arrested for indecency with a child (sexual contact), according to a press release from the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO). Sheriff Bryan Weatherford reported that Elijah Alexander Stone was arrested Nov.
