City seats Youth Advisory Council

Students from Beaumont United, West Brook and Early College High Schools have joined forces with other students to serve on the City of Beaumont Youth Advisory Council with a mission is to encourage youth to learn about and become involved in City Government, serve as a voice of the youth in the community, and serve as an advisory capacity for the Beaumont City Council regarding youth programs and activities.

“Students will have monthly meetings and agenda items similar to council on pointed topics they feel are essential for the city of Beaumont, such as reducing crime, business that they would like to see in Beaumont, downtown input, working with and supporting our school district, street and drainage concerns, park and recreational improvements,” said Councilman A.J. Turner.  “Our goal is this group will make a presentation to council at the end of the program to actually advocate and get funding to support an initiative that would be beneficial to the youth.”
