Join supporters of CASA of Southeast Texas, Inc. on Friday, Jan. 27, for a networking event to meet the people behind the organization responsible for being the voice of abused and neglected children, and children going through the family court system in Southeast Texas.

The third annual Hardin County Go-Texan Valentine and Steak Dinner Scholarship Fundraiser is Tuesday, Feb. 14, at the Honky Tonk in Silsbee. Tickets are $60 per person with only 200 tickets for sale. Ticket includes choice of 12 oz.

Library hosts fun, philanthropy

Continuing a January event lineup of teen-flinging, tweens ages 11 and up are invited to the R.C. Miller Library on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 3 p.m. for an afternoon of crafting and making sun-catchers to catch some rays while awaiting the return of spring.

AG investigates title protection company

Jan. 24, the Texas Attorneys General’s Office announced an investigation of Home Title Lock for potentially violating the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act by misleading consumers with deceptive statements concerning the prevalence of home title theft and the need for Home Title Lock’s services.

Silsbee PD arrests elderly man, others

The Silsbee Police Department reported an elderly man was arrested recently. Jan. 20, Norman Dean Land, 87, was arrested for criminal mischief, $2,500-$30,000, a state jail felony. Five others were also arrested on various charges recently. Jan.

Area man arrested in Tyler County

A Hardin County man was arrested recently by the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Bryan Weatherwood reported that John Hancock, 32, of Lumberton, was arrested for assault of family member and failure to identify with false information.

Eight arrested by Lumberton PD

The Lumberton Police Department reported nine people were arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges recently. Jan. 22, Lonnie L. Crochet, 50, was arrested for assault (Class C); and William C. Luckey, 46, was arrested for assault of family member (third-degree felony). Jan.

Traffic stop results in drug arrests

An early morning traffic stop resulted in the arrest of two Beaumont residents, reported the Beaumont Police Department. Jan. 18, Keith Allen Fowler Jr., 30, and his passenger, Ty’Keyah Alliyanna Coleman, 23, were arrested when officers stopped them in the 1900 block of Nora.
