Upgrades are underway at the Jasper County. Jail. "The 14 bed addition will be ready for housing in about 45 days. Additionally, we are having all of our electronics security systems upgraded. These are much needed improvements." Sheriff Chuck Havard told The Examiner. Access to emergency mental health services is unaffected. However, The Jasper County Sheriff's Office is suspending all all outside volunteer activity during this period to ensure the safety of work crews, inmates, and staff. Recreation, weekend visitation, medical appointments, and meals will run as normal. The installation of new locks and communication equipment part of the project will take about three weeks to complete. The inmate population will continue to have access to music, TV shows, religious programming and school functions.
