Not guilty verdict rendered in child sex abuse trial

After more than two years in a Jefferson County jail, a man charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child has been found not guilty

A 40-year-old Mexican national living in Beaumont, Texas, has been acquitted of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child in Jefferson County, TX. A jury found Leonel Enrique Dominguez not guilty on February 6, 2026. The Honorable John Stevens in the Criminal District Court presided over the case.

According to information presented in court, beginning on August 8, 2017 through November 10, 2021, Leonel Enrique Dominguez committed two or more acts of sexual abuse against a child. He wasn’t charged with the allegations until 2023, where he subsequently arrested and has remained incarcerated in the Jefferson County Jail for nearly three years.

Under state sentencing laws, Mr. Dominguez would have received at least 25 years in prison with no parol had the jury returned a verdict of guilty.
