Saturday, June 20, at 12:35 AM, officers responded to 500 Franklin (Nell’s Place) in reference to a victim of a shooting.  Officers arrived on scene and located a black male in the passenger side of a tan 2001 Honda CRV in the 400 block of Franklin. He had a gunshot wound to his upper body, was treated and  transported to the hospital by EMS where he was pronounced deceased. He was identified as Christopher Janice, a 27-year-old man from Orange. The investigation revealed Christopher’s sister was involved in a disturbance with her ex-boyfriend, Xavier Joseph. She went to Nell’s Place to meet with her brother and mother. Xavier arrived at this location and began to assault the sister. Christopher stepped in to stop the assault and began to fight with Xavier. Xavier shot Christopher and fled the scene in a gray Cadillac.

Detectives interviewed witnesses and a warrant was issued for  XAVIER DESHAN JOSEPH, 28 YEAR OLD BLACK MALE FROM BEAUMONT, for the murder of Christopher Janice.  If you know where we to find Xavier, call Beaumont Police Dispatch at 409-832-1234 or call Southeast Texas Crime Stoppers if you wish to remain anonymous at 409-833-TIPS (8477).
