Hardin County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) investigators are seeking anyone that may have witnessed a road-rage incident on Dec. 2 south of Lumberton on U.S. 69 in which one man was arrested and another injured by gunshot.

“We’re looking for witnesses or people who have video of the incident to contact us,” said Capt. Mike Custer. “We are picking up the pieces and putting the paperwork together.”

Anyone that witnessed the roadway disturbance can contact HCSO investigators at (409) 246- 3441.

Custer also reported that a semi-automatic handgun used in the incident was found Dec. 5 by deputies along State Highway 327 between Kountze and Silsbee.

According to Sheriff Mark Davis, the suspect is currently in custody and the victim was released from a local hospital.

Thomas Wayne Wolcott, 52, of Kountze, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of deadly conduct. His bonds total $450,000.

The victim, Stephan Parr, 26, of Silsbee, was released from the hospital, reported Chief Deputy Mark Minton.

According to a statement by Davis, HCSO deputies responded to investigate a reported road rage incident that resulted in Parr being shot during the disturbance. The victim suffered a single gunshot wound from a bullet that entered the rear window of his four-door truck, missing a woman and child inside the truck.

Wolcott was driving a red Nissan Versa sedan and fled the scene into Beaumont.

Custer reported several other accidents on the feeder roads because of traffic created by the incident.

“They were all separate incidents,” he added.

Southbound traffic was diverted to the southbound frontage road at Cooks Lake Road. Assisting HCSO at the scene were the Lumberton Police Department, Lumberton Fire and Rescue, and Acadian Ambulance Service.

Davis said the Texas Department of Public Safety investigated the crash and HCSO investigated the shooting.

HCSO Investigators gathered certain evidence to support the issuance of a search warrant by Hardin County 356th District Judge Steve Thomas.

Davis noted that at 10 p.m. on the day of the incident, investigators executed a search warrant at a private residence off FM 418 near Kountze and located the suspect’s vehicle
