Couple charged with stealing from church

A Jasper County couple is accused of stealing nearly $60,000 from a local church. The Jasper County Sheriff's Office began the investigation on September 21, 2026 when it was discovered possible theft from the church. During the investigation it was learned that a person acting as the church's treasurer had allegedly been using the church's debit card for numerous fraudulent transactions without the consent of the church.  Bank statements from the prior two years were meticulously reviewed and analyzed by church members and Investigators leading to numerous invoices and receipts being recovered that linked the suspects to the transactions that were made fraudulently, in the amount of more than $57,700. That led to the arrests of 52-year-old Sharon Conn and 49-year-old Daniel Conn, both of Kirbyville. Both admitted to using the debit card without the consent of the church.
