Correctional officer arrested for oppression

A Texas Department of Criminal Justice correctional officer assigned to the Stiles Unit in Beaumont has been arrested on an official oppression charge, according to jail records.

Temetra Alvis Childress-Adams, 46, of Orange, was arrested April 22 and booked into the Jefferson County Jail. No details about the circumstances surrounding her arrest have been released. Bond was set at $3,500.

Official oppression in Texas applies when a public servant, acting under authority of their position, intentionally subjects another person to mistreatment, unlawful arrest, detention or other rights violations. The charge is typically classified as a Class A misdemeanor.

Employment records show Childress-Adams began working for TDCJ in March 2021.

Other recent arrests include:

• Marquise Jaheim Fennell, 25; Jalen Moore, 24; and Seydou Diallo, 21, arrested March 24 and charged with official oppression in connection with a Feb. 28 incident involving an inmate and another officer.

• Maleki St. Julien, 23, of Orange, arrested Feb. 11 and charged with official oppression after surveillance video allegedly showed him assaulting an inmate Jan. 27.
