Teen driver found guilty in officer’s death

At 2:30 p.m., an hour after being sent to take a break and begin deliberations, jurors returned a verdict finding now 20-year-old Luis Torres guilty of the crime of “intoxication manslaughter causing the death of a peace officer.

Accused officer killer reverses guilty plea

Originally entering a guilty plea in reference to the intoxicated manslaughter incident that killed a 23-year-old, second-year Beaumont police officer, a now-20-year-old man reversed his decision at a May 23 sentencing hearing.
