Rowdy retaliator refuses sobriety tests

Kayla Lee Rapone, 31, allegedly left the scene of an accident before assaulting a Nederland police officer, according to a probable cause affidavit used to indict the accused of a felony charge of retaliation on Jan. 19.

Son accused of robbing, assaulting elderly mother

Adrian Ray White, 44, was indicted Jan. 19 for injury to an elderly individual, the victim turning out to be his own mother. According to a report filed on Jan. 3 by officer Jonathan McCauley with the Beaumont Police Department, officers were called to the 3000 block of Saint James Blvd.

Tax office closed by COVID

Due to “COVID-19-related staffing issues in our three locations,” the Jefferson County Tax Office announced on Jan. 13, the office will close one of its branches – the Port Arthur Tax Office – from Monday, Jan. 17, through Friday, Jan. 21. The Port Arthur office is expected to reopen Monday, Jan.
