Posthumous showing

Wanna get away? Make an appointment

Beginning Monday, Feb. 6, the Jefferson County District Clerk’s office will begin processing passports by appointment only from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Also, as of Jan. 23, the 2-day delivery fee to send passports has increased from $18.32 to $19.53.

Go-Texan for valentine’s

The third annual Hardin County Go-Texan Valentine and Steak Dinner Scholarship Fundraiser is Tuesday, Feb. 14, at the Honky Tonk in Silsbee. Tickets are $60 per person with only 200 tickets for sale. Ticket includes choice of 12 oz.

‘Superior’ LHS students

A dozen Lumberton High School students earned Superior ratings on a Class 1 solo. They will compete in the UIL State Solo and Ensemble in May.

In a letter sent to Southeast Texas school districts the week of Jan. 26, the Texas Education Agency alerted administration that accreditation status would be determined and announced at the beginning of February.

Special ceremonies are slated to mark the 20th anniversary of the Space Shuttle Columbia tragedy, reported KJAS.com.  The shuttle broke up during re-entry on the morning of Saturday, Feb 1, 2003, taking the lives of her crew of seven astronauts.
