The Jasper County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a person as a possible overdose. Deputies were called to a residence in 3000 block of FM 82 in KIrbyville Sunday morning, Sept 20, and found one person dead at the scene. 41-year-old Joshua Lowery, of Kirbyville, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. 37-year old Matthew Laney, of Kirbyville, was also arrested. He is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance. Both men were transported to the Jasper County Jail. No charges in the death have been filed at this time.
