Beaumont Heritage Society's first of three walking tours starts May 7

The Beaumont Heritage Society is celebrating Preservation Month by bringing back its Downtown Walking Tours, “Styles, Scamps, and Scandals,” for May of 2026 only.

This encore event will be the last time this tour script will be offered before a new tour debuts this fall. The tours will be on May 7, May 22, and May 23 at 5:30 p.m.

Styles, Scamps, and Scandals is a guided walking tour through the heart of historic Downtown Beaumont. The experience blends architectural insight and colorful local history into an evening stroll. The tour begins promptly at 5:30 p.m. at a designated downtown meeting spot (provided upon registration), where guests will be welcomed by guide Katherine Leister.

From there, participants will wind through Beaumont’s storied streets, stopping at notable buildings and landmarks to uncover the area’s unique architectural styles—from ornate early 20th-century facades to hidden design details that often go unnoticed. Along the way, there will be captivating tales of mischief and mayhem involving some of Beaumont’s most notorious figures—charming rogues, small-town scandals, and strange connections that once made local headlines. Many stories will feature locations at Crockett St, the Tyrrell Historical Library, Julie Rogers Theatre, Jefferson Theatre, the Jefferson County Courthouse, San Jacinto Building, and First National Bank Building and many others.

The tour lasts approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes and covers approximately 1 mile, so comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended.
