Alamo Letter Society to unveil plaque in Beaumont

The Alamo Letter Society will unveil a permanent bronze replica of Lt. Col. William Barret Travis’ famed “Victory or Death” letter at the Jefferson County Courthouse’s jury impaneling room in Beaumont, April 21, from 4-5 p.m.

This letter, sent during the Battle of the Alamo to Sam Houston in 1836, is widely regarded as the most famous in Texas history. The society aims to install bronze copies of the Travis letter in all 254 Texas county courthouses, according to a news release.

The dedication ceremony will celebrate the spirit of the Texas Revolution and preserve the moment for generations to come.

David Stone, the organizer of the event, will be awarded the Albert Martin Award for his work with the Alamo Letter Society. Greg Bostwick will be the Master of Ceremonies, and local Alamo Defenders Descendants will also speak.
