Never a bride

Orange Community Players is hosting open auditions for “Always A Bridesmaid” by Jones Hope Wooten, directed by Dexter Broussard, on July 13 and 14 at the Hattman theater, 3330 Bowling Ln. in Orange, beginning each day at 6:30 p.m. The production will run the weekends of Aug. 21 and Aug. 28.

Current cast needs call for six women: Kari – younger adult, a kind-hearted, spirited Southern charmer; Libby – hopeless romantic, sweet country woman, plain-spoken and guileless; Sedalia – older adult, a gregarious, energetic Virginia hostess and lifeforce; Monette – kinda flashy, kinda trashy, Southern-to-the-bone flirt; Charlie – tree-hugging, Birkenstock-wearing, acerbic Southern free spirit; and Deedra – headstrong with a dry wit, no-nonsense Northern transplant.

In what is described as a hilarious comedic romp, four friends have sworn to keep the promise they made on the night of their senior prom – to be in each other’s weddings – no matter what. More than 30 years later, the friends-for-life are still making “the long walk” for each other, determined to honor that vow.
