Grand jury takes on men who take teen girls

A Jefferson County grand jury indicted two Jefferson County men on child sex crimes at the beginning of April.

According the indictment released by the Jefferson County District Clerk’s Office on March 29, John David Allen III, 44, of Beaumont, was charged with sexual assault of a child and sexual performance by a child, both second-degree felonies, and possession of child pornography, a third-degree felony.

A probable cause affidavit stated that, on Dec. 2, 2022, local law enforcement agencies recovered the 14-year-old female, who was reported missing approximately two weeks prior in the Beauxart Garden neighborhood, being harbored at Allen’s residence. Allen stated that he knew the girl was a runaway.

According to Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll, Allen had been interviewed during the investigation and advised he had no knowledge as to the runaway’s location. He further assisted in the distribution of fliers asking assistance in locating the missing juvenile.

When arresting Allen, police reportedly found images of a child during sexual contact on Allen’s Google cloud storage, according to the affidavit for Allen’s arrest. The arresting instrument also detailed information garnered from the victim’s phone, which gave evidence of an alleged sexual assault committed by the middle-aged man.

Additionally, this past week, a Port Arthur man was indicted for three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child. According to the probable cause affidavits against Jose De Jesus Castellanos Jr., 27, the accused met a 13-year-old female online on Jan. 6 and the next day met the victim in person. The victim accused Castellanos of engaging in sexual intercourse with her the first day the two met in person.

The female stated she left her home on Jan. 9 to run away with Castellanos. The man and the teenage girl walked to his residence and she hid in the bedroom. She reported they had sex three times.

Castellanos admitted he was aware of the girl’s age, the affidavit details.
