A Vidor police officer was involved in a Dec. 27 crash involving another vehicle, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
According to the DPS report, at about 3 p.m., Officer Gregory Harbison, 56, of Kirbyville, was driving his patrol SUV with emergency lights activated as he was responding to an emergency. Troopers stated Harbison took an exit ramp from Interstate 10 and turned to travel eastbound on the westbound service road.
According to DPS, a 2023 Cadillac SUV was traveling the opposite direction and swerved to miss hitting the patrol car. The Cadillac went off the service road and collided with a utility pole.
The DPS report stated the driver of the SUV, Mireyda Gonzalez, 20, of Beaumont, a passenger, Joel Gonzalez, also of Beaumont, and a 9-month-old child were transported by ambulance to Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
