The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigated a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 96, south of the Jasper County line, on Nov. 29.
Sgt. Shana Clark, DPS spokesperson, stated the preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 10:30 p.m., a 2007 Honda passenger car was traveling south without any lighting on the vehicle and was struck from behind by a 2014 Dodge SUV.
The driver of the Honda, Sven Johansson, 56, of Buna, and one passenger were transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Dodge, Paul Burchett, 18, of Kirbyville, and one passenger were not injured.
DPS reported this is an ongoing investigation and there is no additional information available.
