The Jefferson County Coalition for Victims of Crime hosts its annual Tree of Angels tree-trimming event Monday, Dec. 5, at 6 p.m. in the foyer of the old Jefferson County Courthouse Building, 1149 Pearl St. in Beaumont. A reception is scheduled to immediately follow.
Jefferson County’s Tree of Angels began decades ago, with The People Against Violent Crime hosting ceremonies to offer those who grieve an opportunity to publicly remember their loved ones by placing an angel ornament on the tree at the courthouse. These peaceful ceremonies provide an opportunity for families to show their love, support and dedication in a way that words cannot.
This event is free and open to the public. For those who have submitted an angel ornament before, all ornaments will be laid out for them to find their special ornament and to place it on the tree. Those new to the event should bring an angel ornament of their choosing to place on the tree.
