A week before turning 38, Beaumont Mayor Robin Mouton’s son was indicted Oct. 13 for possession of a controlled substance after a woman called complaining that he hit her with her own car in the parking lot of America’s Best Value Inn on I-10.
According to a probable cause affidavit penned by BPD Officer A. Guadian, police responded to America’s Best Value Inn on I-10 in reference to an assault. During the call, the complainant, Miranda Debine, told dispatchers Julian Andre Mouton ran her over with a car and was still at the scene of the crime.
However, Guadian’s investigation showed that Debine was not assaulted and jumped onto the car in an effort to stop Mouton from leaving in her car. Shortly after that revelation, officers located an off-white, rocklike substance inside a Honda zipper bag within Mouton’s front pocket. The suspected controlled substance weighed less than a gram and was sent off for testing, according to the charging document.
Both Mouton and Debine have lengthy criminal histories, according to public records. Mouton has multiple family assault charges from 2014 and at least one for theft of property from 2019. Debine has several controlled substance possession and criminal trespassing charges in her past, as well as a host of criminal mischief charges beginning in 2004.
