LSCO breaks graduation record – again

Lamar State College Orange has once again broken a graduation record with 327 degrees and certificates awarded to 244 graduates at commencement Friday, Dec. 15, which represents more than a 12% increase in the number of graduates from last year’s Fall commencement.

Governor appoints Ames to Credit Union Commission

Gov. Greg Abbott has appointed Becky Ames, of Beaumont, to the Credit Union Commission for terms to expire on Feb. 15, 2029. The Commission supervises the Credit Union Department, which regulates all credit unions organized and chartered under the laws of the state of Texas.

According to an announcement from the Diocese of Beaumont, Dr. Felicia Nichols is stepping down as superintendent of Catholic Schools to “take care of her aging parents.” Nichols’ last day is announced as Dec. 29. Nichols was hired for the position in May 2021.
