Governor names electric system reform a priority

Feb. 16, on the second day of massive electrical power failure statewide, Governor Greg Abbott declared the reform of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) an emergency item this legislative session.

Entergy forced to initiate power outages

Entergy Texas has started additional power outages for its customers across the Eastern portion of its Texas service territory, which includes Jefferson, Orange, Hardin and Liberty counties.

Wind chill warning now in effect

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles, La., has issued a WIND CHILL WARNING, which is now in effect tonight and Tuesday morning for the parishes and counties north of Interstate 10 for wind chill values BELOW ZERO. Wind Chill Advisories are in effect along and south of I-10.

TxDot reports I-10 eastbound closure in Orange

An 18-wheeler has jackknifed on Interstate 10 eastbound at Simmons Drive in Orange causing all lanes to be closed. Icy conditions are still present and travel is discouraged. If you must travel, please visit http://DriveTexas.org for current road conditions.

Legacy clinics to remain closed Tuesday

To ensure the safety of patients and staff, Legacy Community Health clinics will remain closed on Tuesday, Feb. 16, due to the arctic freeze affecting the region, according to a news release, Legacy pharmacies may reopen on Tuesday. Telehealth appointments will continue on Tuesday as planned.

Jefferson County closes courthouse until Wednesday

Jefferson County Judge Jeff Branick has issued a directive that the courthouse remain closed through Tuesday, Feb. 16, due to the winter weather affecting Southeast Texas. Currently, the courthouse is not scheduled to open to the public until 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17.
