Feb. 25 and 26, deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office conducted a joint human trafficking operation aimed at identifying and assisting victims of human trafficking, according to a news release, as well as holding those that traffic and exploit them accountable.

The Beaumont Police Department laid to rest a 92-year-old retired detective Feb. 25. "With heavy hearts the Beaumont Police Department said goodbye to Detective Sergeant Raymond Joe Beyer today," wrote BPD.  Beyer retired from the Beaumont Police Department in 1989 after 32 years of service.

About a month after a vicious assault at a Beaumont eatery, police are looking for a couple that assaulted a 64-year-old man in a Whataburger drive-thru on Sunday, Jan. 17, at approximately 1 a.m.  According to Beaumont police, the assault began in the Whataburger drive-thru at 140 S. Dowlen.
