BPD announces Fourth of July plans

Sunday, July 4, Independence Day, Beaumont will host the 35th Annual Fourth of July Celebration, closing several roads.  As such, a few downtown thoroughfares will be closed Sunday morning before the festivities begin, according to a news release from the Beaumont Police Department (BPD).

Truck on fire on I-10

An 18-wheeler on fire on Interstate 10 west bound near the downtown Beaumont exit had traffic at a standstill leading into the lunch hour on June 24.  According to police, the incident reported around 11:30 a.m. is being considered a Major Hazmat crash.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is reminding residents that, at 70 degrees on a sunny day, after a half hour, the temperature inside a car is 104 degrees. After an hour, it can reach 113 degrees.
