Dubbed the “Heisman Trophy of High School Football in Southeast Texas,” the annual Willie Ray Smith Awards were held May 2 at the MCM Eleganté in Beaumont. Winners were Kheagian Heckaman (Offensive) and Leighton Foster (Defensive).

Drug dog finds crack in man's undergarments

After calling PAPD Canine Duc to a traffic stop, where the officer sniffed approximately three ounces of crack cocaine in a man’s underwear, police arrested a 52-year-old man April 26. At about 6 p.m., PAPD officers conducted a traffic stop in the 2900 block of 22nd Street.

PA driver caught with coke

During a Port Arthur traffic stop April 27, officers arrested a 29-year-old man after finding more than nine ounces of cocaine. At about 9:20 p.m., PAPD officers conducted a traffic stop in the 2400 block of W. Highway 73.
