Sour Lake shopping

Chamber banquet set

‘Superior’ LHS students

A dozen Lumberton High School students earned Superior ratings on a Class 1 solo. They will compete in the UIL State Solo and Ensemble in May.

Odom denounces weapons rumor

According to a robo-call to parents of scholars at Beaumont ISD’s Odom Academy Middle School, on Jan. 20, word was circulating around the campus indicating a weapon had been secreted onto school grounds. However, according to campus administration, rumor of weapon on campus was false.

LISD forms transportation task force

With the end of January, Lumberton ISD administration announced the formation of a Transportation Task Force Committee. The committee is comprised of parents/community members, transportation employees, district and campus administrators, teachers, and school board members.

Driver dies in rollover crash

One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash, reported the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). Jan. 29, DPS responded to a crash about 12:30 a.m. along Interstate 10 near mile marker 856 inside the Orange County line near Rose City. Lt.

TWIA reports storm loss in SETX

Jan. 25, the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) announced it had activated its Catastrophe Incident Response (CAT) Plan to allow TWIA to begin scaling up claim resources and respond quicker to policyholders with losses from the Jan. 24 weather event that barreled through Southeast Texas.

District accreditation status pending

In a letter sent to Southeast Texas school districts the week of Jan. 26, the Texas Education Agency alerted administration that accreditation status would be determined and announced at the beginning of February.
