The National Weather Service in Lake Charles, La., has issued a WIND CHILL WARNING, which is now in effect tonight and Tuesday morning for the parishes and counties north of Interstate 10 for wind chill values BELOW ZERO.

Wind Chill Advisories are in effect along and south of I-10. Hard Freeze Warnings also remain in effect for all of Southwest Louisiana and Southeast Texas for low temperatures in the single digits or teens. Precautions to protect pets, pipes, plants and, of course, yourselves against these very dangerous cold conditions (which have not been seen around these parts in over three decades!!) should have already been completed. Stay inside tonight - if you must venture outdoors, make sure you are dressed appropriately. And finally, stay off the roads - once the sun goes down, any ice which melted in today's sun will quickly refreeze and become nearly impossible to see in time to avoid it.
