Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives previously arrested two suspects for the theft of utility wire reported in November 2021, but this week, the Louisiana law enforcers collected a third suspect – a man from Port Arthur, who was arrested in Orange.

According to the CPSO, Candice Landry and John D. Mitchener, both of Vinton, were arrested for the Nov. 8, 2021, crime, which occurred in an area near Highway 90 and Batchelor Road in Vinton. During the investigation, detectives learned there was an area where newly repaired wire had been damaged and stolen, as well as a mount to a surveillance camera that had been damaged and the camera missing.

Further investigation led detectives to an additional suspect, Alex S. Meyer, 34, of Port Arthur. Judge David Ritchie subsequently issued a warrant for Meyer’s arrest in the amount of $80,000.

Jan. 22, Meyer was arrested in Orange County and extradited to the Calcasieu Correctional Center on Jan. 25. Meyer is charged with theft from $5,000 to $25,000; simple criminal damage to property between $1,000 to $50,000; theft less than $1,000; and simple criminal damage to property less than $1,000.
