Self-proclaimed gang member arrested at 16

After officers stopped two teens for a traffic violation Dec. 6, PAPD officers arrested the duo once they found the 16-year-old, self-proclaimed gang member was a person of interest in “several” local shootings.

According to a PAPD news release, on Dec. 6, officers with the PAPD Narcotics and Guns Unit conducted a stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 3600 block of 29th Street.

The driver, identified as 18-year-old Eric Jason Washington, was arrested for unlawfully carrying a weapon.

Officers recognized the 16-year-old juvenile passenger and arrested him for an active directive to apprehend and unlawfully carrying a weapon.

“This juvenile is a self-proclaimed gang member and a person of interest in several local shootings,” PAPD reported. “The driver/owner of the vehicle consented to a search of the vehicle. Three handguns, one of which was reported stolen, were located. There were also two small children in the vehicle.”
