A Silsbee woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash, west of Silsbee, on Dec. 28, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

Willie Jean Jones, 92, was pronounced deceased on scene by a justice of the peace.

Sgt. Shana Clark, DPS spokesperson, reported the crash occurred on FM 1122, east of FM 418.

Clark added that the preliminary investigation indicates that, at approximately 9:20 p.m., a 2014 Toyota SUV was traveling east. It is reported that the vehicle left the road to the right where it struck a culvert and overturned.

She reports that the incident is under ongoing investigation and there was no additional information at press time.

Five injured in Buna crash

A two-vehicle collision resulted in five people, including three children, being injured and taken to a Beaumont hospital, reported the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

According to Sgt. Shanna Clark, DPS spokesperson, the wreck occurred at 5 p.m. Dec. 26 at the intersection of U.S. 96 and U.S. Business 96, south of Buna.

Clark reported Geneva Carrell, 29, of Buna, was stopped at a stop sign on U.S. Business 96, and then pulled out onto the highway despite a northbound 2019 Honda passenger car, driven by Brent Williford, 39, of Brookeland.

Clark said the SUV and the car collided.

According to Clark, both drivers, as well as passengers in the SUV, ages 2, 4, and 7, were all transported by ambulances to St Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.

There was no other information to report at press time.
