PAISD seeks partners for community collaboration

The Greater Port Arthur Chamber of Commerce announced the relaunch of its Education and Business Partnerships Committee, in collaboration with the Port Arthur Education Foundation.

The goal, Foundation Executive Director Tiayana Clayton stated, is to establish an educational partner for each campus within the Port Arthur Independent School District (PAISD).

“Your support is crucial to achieving this objective,” Clayton directed to would-be business partners.

Campuses seeking partnerships include elementary, middle and high school. Anyone interested in partnering with any campus can reach out to Clayton at Tclayton@portarthurtexas.com.

According to PAISD communication, the district’s mission is to meet the unique educational needs of its diverse population by providing a comprehensive, quality education for each and every one of their students.

“We believe PAISD will grow stronger with business partnerships that provide all 16 of our campuses with any or all of the following supports volunteers willing to serve as mentors, tutors, and/ or guest speakers willing to share their career journey; fundraisers for campuses, extra-curricular clubs/organizations to purchase immediate operating expenses; and donations of gift cards, school supplies/furniture, general merchandise and reward incentives for students and staff,” the district communique contained. “More importantly, your provisions will cultivate close-knit community relationships, showing our students and staff their community sees and acknowledges them, cares about and applauds their hard work.”

PAISD officials noted that campus support will bring consumers and clients into stores, restaurants and other places of business. Contributions made in cooperation with partnerships will be acknowledged on campus social media pages and may be shared on PAISD’s timelines.

“We love posting photos and videos showing our corporate partners in action at our campuses,” according to PAISD, which especially appreciates partners willing to incentivize teenage students. “We would greatly appreciate gift cards from the restaurants that would allow our secondary students, ages 13 to 18, to be able to purchase adult meals or treats as rewards, as well.”

A contact from each campus administration, identified by showing their official PAISD-issued ID, will be assigned the designated person to pick up incentives from restaurants to distribute at schools on agreed upon dates and times.

“Our 16 schools provide an excellent resource for businesses to be able to reach out to the families of over 8,000 students and to nearly 1,500 employees,” according to PAISD. “Studies show student and employee performance improves with incentives.”
