PA employee killed by alleged drunk driver

Port Arthur police arrested a 40-year-old man for intoxicated manslaughter after responding to an accident that killed a 47-year-old city employee.

On Friday July 29, 2022 at approximately 11:41 p.m., Port Arthur Police Department (PAPD) officers responded to the 100 block of Gulfway Drive in reference to a major motor vehicle accident involving a motorcyclist. The suspect, identified as Christopher James, displayed signs of intoxication, according to officers. Officers arrested James and charged him with intoxicated manslaughter that same night. As of press time, James appeared on the Jefferson County inmate roster with a $30,000 bond.

The victim was identified as James Addison, a 47-year-old resident and employee of the city of Port Arthur. This incident is currently under investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division of PAPD.
