Man arrested in connection to pregnant Beaumonter's death

Beaumont police investigators filed tampering with evidence charges against a local 35-year-old man in relation to the disappearance and death of a pregnant 33-year-old Beaumonter, according to BPD.

Beaumont police investigators filed tampering with evidence charges and had a warrant issued for Jonathan Paul Menard, of Beaumont, Monday, Feb. 22. Menard was arrested in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana February 11, for a parole violation warrant issued Feb. 2. Menard was transferred from Calcasieu Parish to Jefferson County, Thursday, Feb. 25. Additional charges are pending and may be filed as early as next week.

Beaumont police detectives began searching for Kayla Nicole Rice in November last year, suspecting foul play due to her car being found with signs of tampering. Rice was found deceased in Vinton, Louisiana, Thursday, Feb. 11. Her death is being investigated by Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, the Beaumont Police Department and federal investigators. The family has been notified.
