Jefferson County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Justin Chesson expressed concern on social media about activities referred to as “Mafia” or “Assassin” games.
Officials said students playing these games while driving in residential areas create serious safety risks and have urged them to stop.
Chesson said he is concerned about the behavior of local students participating in the games.
“While I may not fully understand the details of the game or who oversees it, I do understand that engaging in these activities from behind the wheel of a moving vehicle — especially in residential neighborhoods where young children are present — creates a serious safety risk,” he said.
“The safety of our community, particularly our children, must come first. I’m asking our senior class to be mindful and to show respect for others by making responsible choices.”
Chesson urged that the activity be suspended for the remainder of the year before someone is seriously injured.
“Parents and guardians, your awareness and support in addressing this is essential. I also encourage students to find safer, more appropriate ways to enjoy end-of-year activities,” he said.
