Jefferson County issues burn ban

Jefferson County Judge Jeff Branick signed an amendment to the local COVID-19 emergency order on March 30 to ban burning in the county that isn’t authorized by Texas Parks and Wildlife, the fire department or TCEQ.

According to the order, burning materials could exacerbate “respiratory distress” to those afflicted by COVID-19, “which creates a public safety hazard.”

Burning materials such as plastics, fiberglass and household trash is “expressly prohibited.”
