Ice over roads spurs major traffic incidents

Officials are urging motorists to stay off the roads unless extremely necessary, Jefferson County spokesperson Allison Getz announced just before 10 a.m. on Feb. 16. According to her, 18-wheeler accidents in Orange and Chambers counties have contributed to traffic delays, and ice covering roadways makes transversing Southeast Texas interstates and byways potentially hazardous. 

“People should stay at home, if possible,” Getz said.
