Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) detectives have arrested a Louisiana resident suspected of distributing multiple dangerous drugs – including heroin/fentanyl and methamphetamine – in the Orange County area, where, the agency reports, incidents of trug overdoses have been increasing among users of the illicit substances.

Detectives with OCSO’s Narcotics Division stopped a vehicle traveling on Interstate 10 in the Rose City area “after it was observed committing several traffic violations.”

With the assistance of K9 Unit Rudy, the detectives located a large amount of heroin/fentanyl inside the vehicle, which was being driven by a man identified by deputies as Roger Hanks. Hanks was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

During the investigation, OCSO describes, further evidence was uncovered that led OCSO Narcotics detectives to team up with the Combined Anti-Drug Team (CAT) Narcotics Task Force to converge on two residences, owned by Hanks, in Vinton, Louisiana.

According to OCSO, the group of officers discovered several firearms, large amounts of methamphetamine, cocaine and prescription medications between the two locations. OCSO reportedly also found evidence that Hanks had been distributing amounts of heroin, methamphetamine and other drugs to the Orange County area.

“Heroin/Fentanyl overdoses are rising in the Southeast Texas area, and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office is committed to proactively combating this issue by teaming up with other proactive agencies to diligently fight the war on drug,” OCSO stated.
