The annual Chevron Phillips Charity Golf Tournament raised $225,248 for Buckner Children and Family Services in Southeast Texas, representatives of the latter accepting the donation on Oct. 25.

This year marked the 24th anniversary of the tournament. The event was held at Bayou Din in Beaumont on Sept. 30 and included 280 golfers, 101 sponsors, 176 volunteers and 26 Pit Stops.

“We are proud to partner with Buckner to support the children and families of our community. We appreciate the tremendous support from Southeast Texas,” said Chevron Phillips Orange Plant Manager Craig Lemons, in unison with fellow volunteer golf team leader Chevron Phillips Port Arthur Plant Manager Gary Parsley.

To date, the Chevron Phillips Charity Golf Tournament has raised more than $3.8 million to help Buckner meet the needs of vulnerable children through programs that include Buckner Foster Care and Adoption, Buckner Family and Youth Success (FAYS) program, Healthy Outcomes through Prevention and Early Support (HOPES), and Fatherhood EFFECT, as well as Transitioning to Responsible Adult Independent Living (TRAIL) and the Buckner FYI Center, two transition programs assisting youth as they age out of foster care.

The event’s prestigious Traveling Trophy for Pit Stop of the Year was awarded to Paul Spence, Randy White and Wes Moody with STI Group.
