Day 4: Southeast Texas counties release daily COVID-19 update for Friday, March 27

BEAUMONT, Texas – The following information from the Southeast Texas Regional Emergency Operations Center summarizes activities and developments related to COVID-19 in Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson, Newton, Orange, and Tyler counties:

Positive for COVID-19 – 19 total

· Hardin County – 6

o   Lumberton – 3

o   Silsbee – 3

· Jefferson County – 12

o   Beaumont – 8

o   Groves – 1

o   Port Arthur – 3

· Orange County – 1

o   Mauriceville - 1

Confirmed COVID-19 Fatalities – 1

· Hardin County – 1

Total calls received by Call Center – 1,192

· 399 have been referred for testing (since call center opened on 3/20)

· 57 were tested at the drive-through site today

It was announced today that as of 11:59 pm today, March 27, 2020, each County will begin a more stringent Stay at Home, Work Safe Order for all six counties.  A copy of Judge Jeff Branick’s Seventh Amended Emergency Order for Jefferson County is attached as well as a handout entitled “What does the Stay Home, Work Safe Order mean for my Community?”   

The Call Center will continue to be open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.  If you are experiencing symptoms (fever, dry cough, shortness of breath) or you believe you have been exposed to an infected individual, you can call 409-550-2536 to be evaluated for testing.
