Giving any potential contender plenty of time to run for the vacated seat, Beaumont Ward 1 Councilmember Taylor Neild announced he will not seek re-election to his seat, which is up for vote in May 2025.
“After much thought and with the consultation of my family, I am announcing my decision not to run for re-election of the Ward 1 city council seat in 2025,” Neild said. “The community has blessed our family by allowing me the opportunity to serve three two-year terms. As a proponent of term limits, I believe this is the correct time to relinquish this seat and open it to others who would like to serve.”
Neild said that him stepping aside provides an opportunity for others in the community, who care about Beaumont and its future, to stand up and make their voices heard through local government.
“I owe a debt of gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the Ward 1 citizens, who allowed me to serve in their honor and trusted me to cast votes in the city’s best interest,” stated Neild. “It is my greatest honor to have worked with the community and other dedicated public servants for more than five years, and I do not regret any of the votes I was trusted to make.
“This was possible thanks to the love and support of family and friends, as well as the unbroken backing of our team at H.B. Neild Construction, which created the time necessary to make Beaumont my leading concern.”
Neild noted his role supporting the city will continue as an H.B. Neild Construction leader and pro-business advocate.
“And,” he added, “I remain open to opportunities to serve this great community where I can truly be a benefit.”
