Vidor City Manager Robbie Hood is on paid administrative leave pending an investigation, according to Mayor Misty Songe.

On Aug. 24, the council went into executive session to discuss Hood’s employment, including his annual evaluation. The council voted to place Hood on administrative leave with pay pending an investigation following a closeddoor executive session.

Four days later, at the Aug. 28 special meeting, the council went into executive session to consult with the city attorney. They returned to open session, voted to reverse the Aug. 24 decision and allow Hood to return to his position, and cancelled the investigation.

After an executive session during a special-called meeting on Sept. 1, the Vidor City Council voted unanimously to again place the city manager on administrative paid leave pending an investigation, Songe confirmed.

Hood became Vidor’s city manager in June 2020 after five years as city administrator for the city of Pinehurst. He worked in city government in Liberty and Stephenville before coming to Orange County.

According to www.GovSalaries. com, Hood’s annual salary was $102,752 in 2021.

• Approve the police captain as acting chief of police while the police chief is acting interim city manager.

• Approve a resolution naming and designating the supervisor of Accounting and Finance as deputy city secretary to perform necessary city secretary functions during the absence or vacancy of the city secretary position.
