Child drowns in Event Centre lake

At 2:30 p.m. April 15, responders with the Beaumont Police Department, Beaumont Fire and Rescue and Beaumont EMS responded to the Event Centre lake at 700 Crockett St. in reference to a possible drowning. When first responders first arrived at the scene, they rescued the mother of a 3-year-old child from the 7-foot-deep lake and began life-saving efforts. She was transported to a local hospital where, as of publication, she was listed in critical but stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

Beaumont Fire and Rescue dive team arrived on the scene and recovered the 3-year-old child from the lake. Responders attempted resuscitating the child and transported him to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
