Beaumont Police officer remembered for service

Aug. 9, the Beaumont Police Department remembered Officer Sheena Dae Yarbrough-Powell, who was killed in the line of duty on Aug. 9, 2020, when her patrol car was struck head-on by an 18-year-old, intoxicated, wrong-way driver on Cardinal Drive near Highway 347 at 2:30 a.m.

Officer Yarbrough-Powell was 23 years old and had served with the Beaumont Police Department for two years. She left behind a husband, parents and five sisters.

At a ceremony on Aug. 9, the 100 Club of Southeast Texas was present as officers gathered to reflect on Yarbrough-Powell’s life and service, and witness the addition of a plaque added to the BPD station walls in her honor.
