Beaumont confirms additional coronavirus death, new positive cases

The City of Beaumont Public Health Department reported a fourth COVID-19-related death of a Beaumont resident Tuesday, April 7. The male patient was between 61-70 years old and had underlying medical issues. He had no known history of travel. 

According to Mayor Becky Ames' informational release, with the two new cases added, there are a total of 54 positive cases in the Beaumont jurisdiction. There are 50 cases in Beaumont, two in China, one in each Fannett and Nome. 

To date, there have been 271 tests performed, with 104 test results still pending. Of those with confirmed cases of COVID-19, 26 were female and 28 were male. There are currently 49 residents in isolation, one has recovered and four individuals have died.

Mayor Ames concluded the update with a plea for residents to stay home unless absolutely necessary and to practice social distancing if performing essential activities. 

"If you visit any business that is considered essential... and they are not following guidelines regarding social distancing and also including the number of people inside (which should be no more than 10 people per 1,000 square feet), please call 311 so we can follow up," reads the mayor's information.
