At a special called meeting set for April 3, the Beaumont City Council will look to extend the “Stay Home, Work Safe” order issued by the mayor March 27. The original order was set to expire after seven days, but due to the ever-evolving situation the city council will look to extend the order’s duration until it’s terminated by ordinance of the city.

The order states all “non-essential” businesses are required to cease all activities and restricts public and private gatherings to no more than 10 people. It further discourages public and private gatherings of any number of people from occurring outside a single dwelling.

All travel outside of essential activities is prohibited, including, but not limited to, travel on foot, bicycle, scooter, motorcycle, automobile or public transit. Reasons deemed essential for travel include: traveling between a jobsite at an essential business, grocery shopping, exercise and taking care of animals or loved ones.

The order restricts grocery shoppers to one adult per household in the store. Exceptions to this rule do apply, which includes single parents without childcare options and consumers who need caretakers.
