An argument between two men resulted in the shooting death of one man and the arrest of the other on Nov. 7, reported Hardin County Sheriff Mark Davis.

According to Davis, the shooting occurred about 8:30 p.m. in the 2600 block of Pine Park Drive, a neighborhood off of FM 1122, north of Silsbee.

The sheriff stated authorities arrived on the scene and found Joseph Paul Russell III, 38, of Silsbee, suffering from a gunshot wound. Deputies performed first aid on Russell, but he died at the scene.

Davis said the preliminary information indicated two men became involved in an argument in the street, and Russell was shot once with a handgun.

According to the HCSO website, Lindsey Joseph Bertrand III, 44, was arrested and booked into the Hardin County Jail on Nov. 8. He has been charged with murder and bond was set at $500,000 by Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Charles Brewer.

The victim died at the scene from a single gunshot and Brewer has ordered an autopsy.

HCSO Chief Deputy Mark Minton reported the two men didn’t know each other.
