After an alleged history of raping his girlfriend’s 14-year-old cousin, a 28-year-old Beaumont man is on the 252nd District Court docket to begin his defense starting with jury selection Oct. 17.
A Jefferson County grand jury indicted Lloyd Thomas Martin March 31 on seven counts of sexually assaulting a child and one count of indecency with a child.
Garth House interviewers spoke to the child, who recalled multiple instances of abuse at the hands of Martin. Officers arrested him March 23, 2021, and booked into the Jefferson County Jail on a bond totaling $1.5 million.
The victim told investigators she was assaulted multiple times while she was trying to sleep on his couch, according to the 24-page indictment. Martin initially claimed to know nothing about the sexual assaults, but claimed to know that his DNA was in the juvenile victim and then “made up an excuse” as to why it was there.
As of press time, Martin’s name did not appear on the Jefferson County inmate roster.
